“The Fuchsia Ain’t What It Used To Be” (DG006) is complete and set up. I’m just waiting for the glue to dry on its case (which is a bit smaller and more lightweight than my usual, robust coffins, but is, as ever, colour-coordinated).
She’s a handbuilt, fairly lightweight and very understated (!) ash Telecaster with fuchsia top and a dark side – a black gloss back with plain white purfling, and all black hardware. She even sports black strings, like some sort of goth gurl’s black nail polish.
Convoluted ownership story here – it was ordered and paid for by an American friend (one of two Americana/junkyard folk female singer-songwriters I know) named Kailin. But she can’t collect it until at least September. I don’t exactly have the space in the UK to store it, so she suggested she’d like it to go out on loan, if I knew anyone appropriate who’d like it for about six months. As it happens, I think I do, and they’re pretty local, so will drop it off next week and see if she’d like to look after it.
This biz is proving to be a lot like being Father Christmas
