So the first ‘Elle’s Guitar’ has left the workshop.
The insane Frankencaster DR002, relic’d pink SSH strat copy with a Bigsby, has become the first (of hopefully many) “Elle’s Guitar” in conjunction with Mirror of Hope.
Elle Holmes was 15 when she died by suicide in 2014. Elle was an insanely creative musician and songwriting talent, and her mum Leigh (an old friend) is quietly donating Elle’s Guitars to teenagers wanting to take up the instrument who don’t have the means to afford to. I’m obviously super-honoured to be helping out in donating my time and some parts to the project.
If you would like to help out too, every guitar that goes out in this scheme will be a rescued, unloved charity shop find that will be despatched somewhere for £150 – I’ve got a product in my Catalogue that you can buy to fund further donations.
As befits Elle, I’ll be very deliberately making every Elle’s Guitar I send out quirky, original, one-of-a-kind and full of character. It’s not good enough to simply be playable, it’s got to have attitude. This one (dubbed “The Pink Meanie”) has that in spades.
